Nokia nails it with their new N95 8GB.

Take one good look at this thing and tell me you don’t want it. With a body like this, Nokia’s new N95 is definitely a head turner. But as we all know, looks aren’t everything in the smartphone world. So what can it do that other smartphones can’t? Let’s start with a 5 megapixel camera (with 20x zoom), Carl Zeiss optics and a luminous 2.8″ (240 x 320) QVGA 16 million colour display. Better than most smartphone cameras. Not a bad start. But what else? There’s an MPEG-4 VGA video feature that shoots videos at 30 frames per second, making them viewable for any big screen or LCD screen. Most impressive. Add all the standard smartphone trinkets - like email (powered by Rogers MobileMail), Rogers MusicStore (giving you instant access to over 1.8 million mp3 tracks. This is where the generous 8GB of memory comes in handy), N-Gage (the coolest video game selections in 3-D at your fingertips. Bye bye boredom), and a nifty little GPS feature called TeleNav with turn-by-turn directions and easy to read maps. Here’s the clincher - impeccable internet connectivity (though you have to be a Rogers subscriber, as you may have gathered) which gives you Rogers Vision. This includes Radio on Demand, Video on Demand and Mobile TV. Ok, so it’s pretty much the renaissance man of smartphones right now. There’s even more you can do with this thing, but given the alloted blog space (which I’ve clearly exceeded) you’ll have to find out the rest yourself. $399.99 with a three-year activation contract. www.rogers.com
