JA Apparel to Sell American-Made Suits in China

by Rob on July 15th, 2008

China is the world’s factory. But because of the country’s double-digit economic growth it will soon be the world’s biggest market for luxury goods. A lot of Chinese men now have huge amounts of disposable income and with that new money they want to buy status: flashy Buick cars, Gucci wallets, and now, American-made suits

Joseph Abboud is a men’s fashion house who makes (*gasp*) all of his clothes in America. His factory is in New Bedford, Massachusetts, unionized and sells his wares in high profile shops like Bloomingdale’s. Every suit says ‘Made in U.S.A. right on the tag. And just as these factors would confer luxury and quality craftsmanship in Canada, they’ll do that and more in China

Abboud hopes to open 15 stores throughout the Middle Kingdom. The first opened in Beijing yesterday. To find out more about the brand and find out for yourself whether his ‘road-less traveled’ strategy will work, visit: http://www.josephabboud.com/
