Shark Week on Discovery Channel

by Jeremy on July 28th, 2008

Sharks are bad ass. Huge, relentless and downright-mean there is nary a predator that is as feared and respected as the Great White. Plus, they make great TV. Which is why the good folks at the Discovery Channel have pronounced July 27th - August 1 st Shark Week. Tonight, 9 p.m. ET, Survivor Man’s (and good Canadian) Les Stroud stars in Surviving Sharks, as he and marine biologist Jeremiah Sullivan travel to South Africa and the Bahamas to test popular theories on how to survive a shark attack. Is it best to splash around a shark solo? Or should you stay in groups? Stroud finds out in his (a)typical fashion. Sharp’s other pick is Dirtyjobs: Greenland Shark Quest, airing July 29th, 9 p.m. ET. Dirtyjob’s host Mike Rowe travels all the way to Greenland to find the near-mythic Greenland shark (which is also found off the shores of Canada). While there he helps scientists learn more about the undersea giants and how climate change is affecting their lives.

For more shark info and games, be sure to visit Discovery’s website. We highly suggested dabbling with the Photoshop game, Shark Yourself.
