Sharp Autos: Pléthore LC-750

Okay, so maybe Canada’s not quite renowned for producing the highest quality cars. In fact, our fanciest ride is arguably the Bricklin SV1, and the Globe and Mail recently rated it as one of the 12 worst cars ever built.
The Pléthore LC-750 - Canada’s first domestically-built supercar - has changed that. Designed by Montreal-based start-up HTT Technologies, this bad boy wowed crowds late last month during Arizona’s Barret-Jackson Autoshow and, word is, it’ll put the Great White North on the international supercar map.
The Pléthore LC-750 packs a 6.2-liter V-8 behind the cockpit and puts out 750 horsepower. If that’s not enough fuel for your mule, then just sit tight another two years, when the company claims a 1,300 horsepower unit will be available.
Inspired by the legendary McLaren F1, this three-seater puts the driver in the centre of the vehicle, with two passenger seats on the left and right. At 89 inches wide, it boasts plenty of interior space and with it’s wild contours, sexy carbon fibre body and drool-worthy Lamborghini-style vertical doors, its exterior doesn’t look too shabby either.
If you want one, you’ll have to part with about $395,000. According to HTT’s president Sébastien Forest, the carmaker has already pre-sold most of its first year’s production and will begin assembly in the next few weeks for its Fall 2010 deliveries. Expect the Pléthore to make an appearance at Toronto’s Canadian International AutoShow from February 12th to 21st.
