Toshiba to Release the World’s Thinnest Tablet

They're calling it the Excite 10 LE and it'll run on 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. By Xiaoli Li

With 65% of the market, there’s no doubt that the tablet game belongs to Apple. But by the looks of things Toshiba’s game for that challenge, as the Japanese brand prepares to release their anti-iPad, the Excite LE ($600, according to TechCrunch). The world’s thinnest ten-inch tablet, the Excite LE packs a 1280×800 10.1-inch AutoBrite screen, with a brushed magnesium back that gives it a tough, durable look that belies it’s real weight. You see it’s only 7.7mm thick, and 1.18 pounds, which is actually lighter than some phones we know. For example, the iPhone 4S is 9.8mm. Drop date for the Excite LE is March 6th–or one day before the iPad 3 announcement. But, you know, don’t read anything into that.
