Lisa Ann Martin wants to help you look your best. All you need is a webcam. By William Stodalka

The widower had a problem. After his wife had died, he was looking to get back into the dating game. The only problem was that he hadn’t done it in a while, and he wasn’t sure what to wear, or how to act.

So he contacted Lisa Ann Martin. She saw the man’s problems – he had lost a tremendous amount of weight, nearly 100 pounds. She told him to slim down his clothes, and also offered him some dating advice. And after taking her advice, he’s not alone anymore – all because of her help, and webcam.

Martin, of stealthstyling.com, has been style consulting for years, usually with snowbirds coming to her hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona. At the same time, she was starting to use Skype, the free Internet phone service. So, in a flash of inspiration, she combined the two to become a new kind of style consultant. Where once she was mostly restricted to her hometown, her services are available to men seeking help all over the world.

Her biggest style tip? Fit your body type. She’s seen too many men with beer stores in place of six packs try to fit into a really slim shirt. This means they end up looking like they’re trying too hard. Then, there are others who try to hide their gut by wearing an XXL shirt. “But,” she says, “they end up wearing a shirt that looks like a tent.” She suggests a shirt that only gives a bit. Ultimately, she teaches her clients how to disguise their faults and accentuate their strengths with what they wear.

Another trend is that some guys (like the widower) have a hard time dressing for their age. They either dress too brightly, or too much like they’re stuck in a recently departed decade. Instead, she suggests wearing classic fabrics and styles, along with plenty of greys, blacks, and navy.

What makes her services unique is that she offers some amount of privacy to those who may be too embarrassed to go out and seek help. And ultimately, everyone needs help with their style choices, she says. Some people more than others – she remembers one client whose session was marred by a constant barking. His house was nearly overtaken with pets, and all the clothing he had was covered with fur. Her advice to him? “Buy a lint roller.”
