It’s On: Money Mayweather Challenges Pacquiao
A tweet that could set off the biggest boxing match of the decade. By Sharp StaffFloyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. is ready to take on Manny Pacquiao in the ring. Or at least that’s what he tweeted earlier today. Citing his jail sentence being “pushed back,” Mayweather called out the pugilist from the Philippines in front of the whole Internet: “Manny Pacquiao I’m calling you out let’s fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see…Step up punk.” Now, before everyone loses their shit, let’s all remember that this fight has been scheduled before, and every single time, the bout has fallen apart before Michael Buffer can clear his throat. However, unlike past attempts where disagreements over drug tests (Mayweather wanted Pacquiao to be subjected to Olympic style, surprise blood sampling) halted the negotiations, the fighters seem to be on the same page. This morning USA Today quoted Pacquiao as saying “I am meeting with my promoter, Bob Arum, and I will insist that the fight with Mayweather be given the preference than the four others in the list I will fight next.”
