A Welcome Introduction: Judi Shekoni

<b>On chasing her dreams:</b>
<br></br>
The world is changing for Judi, and she is enjoying the ride, but it’s no accident. She is intentional about maintaining a spiritual connection to the universe and when you see a person like Judi enjoying life and living her lifelong dream, you can’t deny that she is doing something right.
<br></br>
“I moved over (from England) about five years ago. It has always been in the back of my mind to come to America and give it a shot and go all the way. I came over completely cold, I didn’t know anyone, I hadn’t booked anything, I just knew that I wanted to relocate to Los Angeles. What is funny is that the first audition I did, I got and remember thinking, ‘Oh my God, this is so easy- I’ll probably win an Oscar by the end of year.’”

<b>On spirituality:</b>
<br></br>
Aside from acting, truth is Judi’s passion; she pursues it, she aspires to always speak it, and expects others to do the same. “Every time I found out more about life, and become more spiritual, things tend to go more and more my way,” she says of her quest for truth. It is this journey that has drawn her to spiritual sites around the world. From the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem to Big Bear Lake, and even Squamish, British Columbia, where she spent time during the filming of Twilight’s final installment. “Squamish is so beautiful with the mountains, the scenery and the nature, that just being there helped me with my work. I was able to meditate and get in the zone.”

<b>On her love for Canada:</b>
<br></br>
She is a free spirit and self-described world citizen, looking to connect to nature and her own spirituality wherever she goes, while still remaining an ambitious city girl trying to have it all. It is perhaps that duality that has led to Vancouver finding a place in Judi’s heart. “After shooting in Squamish, we shot in Vancouver for two weeks, then I went back to do some additional shooting earlier this year. Vancouver is straight up one my top four cities in the world. I think what I am trying to achieve through meditation here in L.A., you guys have naturally up in Canada.”

<b>On her life changing:</b>
<br></br>
After the peaceful serenity of British Columbia, her work on Twilight meant a trip to San Diego for ComiCon, where she got to see first-hand exactly how much this role would change her life. “It’s opened up the possibility of people becoming more aware of me and raised my profile which, as an actress, is a always a good thing. Nine months ago, nobody was asking for my signature. But people also now have a higher expectation of you, but it has been a joy. When I booked it, I realized it was one of those jobs that has the potential to change your life.”

<b>On the difference between Canadian and English men:</b>
<br></br>
According to her, one of the biggest differences in culture may be the approach of the men in North America. “When you are away from home for such a long time it seems as though the grass is greener, and I don’t want it to seem like all the guys in England are perfect and lovely. The guys are more sensitive here and more in touch with their feelings. In England, the guy is the guy.”

<b>On what she looks for in a man:</b>
<br></br>
While she says she has learned from every relationship experience, like her quest for truth, her search for the ideal man begins with spirituality. “I look for someone with some sort of spiritual foundation, I think it’s so important. I would also say motivation and ambition. And also a sense of humour and heterosexuality. You’d think it goes without saying, but you can’t always guarantee it in L.A. Also with looks, someone who takes care of themselves because I do, and I believe that the outside is a sort of representation of what you are doing on the inside.”
